We are the first Health Centre in the Pacific to use an electronic cloud based Patient Management System that requires all notes entered in the computer. Therefore, we are the first Medical Centre in the Pacific Islands that we know of (other than those linked to New Zealand, France, USA) that has an electronic-based health information system that makes it paperless.
The Cliniko software does scheduling and enables patients to book their own appointments straight into the system. The software informs the doctor that the patient has arrived at reception. The doctor then enters the consultation and a plan of treatment into the computer notes.
The clinical notes are accessible only by the doctor seeing the patient and is protected by a password known only to that doctor. The doctor can access the data from anywhere which means there is immedate access – none of the usual problems in the hospitals where patient files could not be found.
Audit of clinical performance can be done easily by questioning the data in the system.
So we are pleased that we can offer this as a way of improving patient care.
